Cottage Grove Community Market began from the concept of building from within.  Evidence showed residents residents were a natural at making handmade and homemade items.  To build economic mobility, a safe place was provided so they could sell and purchase goods and produce.

The creation of the Cottage Grove Community Marketplace originally was anchored by   Guilford County Department of Health and Human Services Mobile Oasis; a mobile vegetable food truck. Neighborhood entrepreneurs sell their homemade/handmade items and Mobile Oasis, now operated by Guilford College, also allows residents to use SNAP/EBT.  Mustard Seed Community Health is next door offering the opportunity for residents to purchase the produce at the the market with RX. This expands access to vegetables while supporting local farmers and increases economic mobility among residents in living in Cottage Grove
